PVC cards in the UAE: choose the right card, sides and information
Service illustration; the actual item, dimensions and finish are confirmed in the quotation.

A PVC card can make membership, identification or event access easier to manage when its information is clear. Start with what the card must do: identify a person, show a membership number, carry a QR link or support a visitor process. The design should serve that job. A card covered with small text can be harder to use than one with a clear name, readable photo and a short reference number.

Choose the card before designing the artwork

A common card format is about 85.6 × 54 mm, but use the exact specification of the product you select. Evolis, for example, lists that size for one CR80 card with a printable front and a special writable back. That example shows why surface and card type matter; it does not mean that both faces of every card accept the same printing. Manufacturer card example

Tell the team whether you already have compatible blank cards or want cards supplied with printing. These are different orders. If you bring your own cards, share their type and a sample where needed before committing a large batch. Existing coating, a writing panel, a chip or raised details can affect the available print area and the suitable process.

Decide whether you need one side or two

For a staff badge, the front might carry a photograph, name and organisation. A second printed side can hold useful contact details or instructions when the selected card supports it. A membership card may need only a simple front. Plan the back deliberately rather than filling it because space is available. Keep the main information away from rounded corners, holes and other unusable areas.

The relevant question is how many sides should be printed, not how many print positions you want. Specify front only or front and back, then review each face separately. If a hole, clip or card holder is required, tell the team before artwork approval so the design and finishing can be coordinated.

Prepare a clean design and an accurate list

Use the approved logo and confirm the final spelling of every name. Keep headings, numbers and QR codes comfortably readable at actual card size. Check the design on a normal phone screen at the intended physical size, rather than judging only a greatly enlarged preview. A QR code should be tested on a real proof, with the intended destination page already working.

If each card has a different name or number, prepare one consistent spreadsheet with a clearly labelled column for each field. Keep a separate identifier for matching photographs to records. Send only the information needed for the chosen card. Approve a sample record and the data order before the complete list is produced; a good-looking template cannot correct an incorrect data file.

Printing is separate from electronic functionality

A printed access symbol or membership number does not by itself make a card work with a door reader or a software system. If your project needs electronic access, tell the team which technology and system are involved. Blank-card compatibility, encoding, enrolment and testing must be confirmed as separate scope where applicable. Do not choose a card solely because it looks similar to an existing one.

Order the quantity you actually need

Tell us whether you need a small batch, hundreds of cards or a larger planned rollout. The displayed example quantity is not a limit on what you can request. Confirm the actual quantity, supply option, printed sides, variable information and finishing together. The final quotation should also explain the production timing, delivery or collection arrangement and the applicable tax treatment.

Can I order cards without a finished design?

Yes. Explain the card’s purpose and the information it must contain. The team can discuss the next design step. A skipped artwork upload means the design is still to be approved, rather than an instruction to print an unfinished file.
